The seminar organizes the working group IVIG ALCU in cooperation with the Institute of Information Studies and Librarianship (IISL, Faculty of Art of the Charles University in Prague) and the Information Literacy Development Association (SPRIG). Every year is focused on a specific theme. Seminar programme involves information on IVIG group activities, speech of a foreign guest, discussion with administrative officers and teachers and examples of good practice. The afternoon workshop following lectures and discussions has become a vital and valuable part of the seminar.
The IVIG group members have formulated definition of information literacy and standards of an information literate university student as the base for the pilot survey of student's information literacy level at several universities/faculties in the Czech Republic in 2004-2005. Survey on information education Seminar IVIG has been organized annually from 2003 to promote IL initiatives and best practices, to discuss problems and to share experiences. The Information Education Strategy at Universities in the Czech Republic was issued in 2008 as a recommendation of Association of Libraries of Czech Universities. International cooperation started since 2003. For more information see the website: http://www.ivig.cz/e-index.html
